Therapeutic Area Director, Oncology Medical Affairs

Astellas Pharma Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Therapeutic Area Head, Oncology Medical Affairs to lead our Medical Affairs team in Canada. As a key member of our Medical Affairs Leadership Team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to our Medical Affairs activities in the Oncology therapeutic area.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive Medical Affairs strategy for the Oncology therapeutic area, aligned with our company's overall business objectives.
- Provide medical and scientific expertise to support new product development efforts and the commercial success of our locally marketed products.
- Lead and coordinate training of our personnel on medical and scientific information related to our products within the Oncology therapeutic area.
- Develop and maintain relationships with our Medical and Scientific Affairs colleagues and represent our company in regional and global meetings.
- Collaborate with our Cross-functional Therapeutic team to support activities with marketed products and to meet corporate objectives.
- Embed a culture of compliance and ethics across our business, ensuring that our Medical Affairs function adheres to our company's policies and standards.
- Provide medical and scientific expertise on safety and risk management issues, including label review and safety management meetings.
- Review new product licensing and acquisition opportunities for marketed and late-stage compounds.
- A graduate degree in life sciences (Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D.).
- Minimum 7 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical or Scientific Affairs, clinical research, or project management.
- Knowledge of the healthcare environment and local and international regulations.
- Strong leadership ability, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven track record of success in a similar role.
- Ability to manage local, national, and international travel, with up to 30% overnight travel.
- Assigned therapeutic area experience.
- Bilingual (English/French).
