The Role

The Chief People Officer will lead and inspire a robust culture of growth and leadership, aimed at attracting and retaining top talent. This role requires a visionary leader with the ability to provide strategic direction across all aspects of human resources and organizational culture, particularly in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

This executive will continuously seek innovative strategies to enhance organizational development and human resource practices, positioning NorQuest as a preferred employer.

The Chief People Officer will guide the People & Culture team with inspirational leadership, offering clear direction while facilitating success and supporting individual and team development. Through their leadership, they will enhance the college's organizational culture, deliver exceptional employee experiences, and achieve strategic outcomes through collaborative partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief People Officer will oversee the People & Culture division, ensuring alignment with NorQuest's mission and values. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing talent management strategies that foster strong organizational performance and positive employee experiences.
  • Supporting NorQuest's commitment to being an adaptive and inclusive organization through a people-centric approach.
  • Advising the Executive team on organizational policies and practices, utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
  • Engaging with the Board of Governors on matters related to human resources and organizational governance.
  • Leading the development of strategic initiatives that align with legislative requirements and collective agreements.

Success Metrics

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Establishing a clear vision and strategy for NorQuest's workforce of the future.
  • Setting service level standards for the People & Culture division.
  • Conducting employee engagement initiatives and fostering a culture of collaboration.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the post-secondary sector.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in senior human resources roles, with at least 5 years in senior management within a complex organization.
  • Expertise in labor relations and collective bargaining.
  • A university degree in Human Resources or a related field; a master's degree and CPHR designation are preferred.
