Waste Management Project Director

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Waste Management Project Director to join our team at GHD. As a key member of our Solid Waste practice, you will play a critical role in growing our waste management team and leveraging our expertise in new and innovative technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain long-lasting relationships with municipal and private clients and prospects
  • Collaborate with the Regional Business Development Manager to build the business in the Northwest region
  • Lead proposals for new projects and develop business growth strategies
  • Oversee waste management projects from planning to execution, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery
  • Lead GHD's waste management projects, including planning and design of composting facilities, anaerobic digestion facilities, landfills, transfer stations, and waste-to-energy projects
  • Work with GHD's waste management planning team to develop master plans and undertake technical components
  • Prepare technical reports and conduct peer reviews of designs completed by others in the Waste Management group
  • Effectively communicate and connect with existing and prospective clients, stakeholders, and regulators
  • Complete regulatory conformance reviews and project management of studies and designs to support permitting applications
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to intermediate and junior technical staff across our offices in Western Canada
  • Contribute to the growth and direction of the North American Waste Management Team

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in the solid waste industry
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a consulting role
  • 10 years' experience in a business development role
  • Engineer, scientist, or planner with a valid class 5 drivers' license and good driving record
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a highly-skilled and diversified project team
