About the Role:


The City of Sault Ste. Marie is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Supervisor Downtown Plaza. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising daily operations at the Downtown Plaza, ensuring compliance with relevant municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.



About You:


To be successful in this role, you will have a Community College diploma in a related field, such as Recreation and Leisure or Event Management Planning. You will also possess three years of work experience in a supervisory position, preferably in a related field, or five years with progressive accountabilities.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Supervise daily operations of venues, including facility maintenance, customer service, site services, and personnel requirements;
  • Assist community members and groups in planning and providing activities, programs, and services;
  • Coordinate and direct the provision of recreational and cultural programs, festivals, and special events;
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of City Policy, applicable legislation, and current knowledge of services for venues, providing information and making referrals as appropriate;
  • Ensure purchasing, payroll, and accounting procedures are performed in accordance with City Policy;
  • Review and prepare all Licence of Occupation Agreements for events/street closures taking place on city property or streets and ensure all necessary paperwork is submitted, including event maps, insurance, APHU approvals, ACGO permits, as needed;
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the City's Health and Safety policy and procedures;


Required Skills and Qualifications:



  • Community College diploma in a related field;
  • Three years of work experience in a supervisory position, preferably in a related field, or five years with progressive accountabilities;
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft, including experience in Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
  • Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA) and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA);
  • Valid Ontario 'G' Driver's License, with an excellent driving record;
  • Knowledge and understanding of relative legislation and regulations, Ontario Fire Code, CSA Playground Standards, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing;
  • Leadership and organizational skills;
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry over 10 kg and high degree of standing and walking;


About the Salary:


The salary for this role is estimated to be between $78,690 and $93,671 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
