Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA. As a key member of our childcare team, you will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for children to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess children's development and create personalized learning plans.
  • Assist colleagues with daily tasks and duties.
  • Provide care and support for infants and toddlers, including bathing, diapering, and feeding.
  • Lead activities that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain accurate records and ensure a smooth operation.
  • Encourage creativity and self-expression through various activities.
  • Guide children in developing essential life skills, such as eating, dressing, and using the bathroom.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and address any concerns.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and community service providers.
Requirements
  • Emergency child care first aid and CPR certification.
  • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • CPR Certificate.
  • Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
Work Environment

This is a temporary position with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. You will be required to bend, crouch, and kneel as needed.
