Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA. As a key member of our childcare staff, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess children's development and create personalized learning plans to meet their unique needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a clean and organized childcare environment.
  • Provide exceptional care and attention to infants and toddlers, including bathing, diapering, and feeding.
  • Engage children in activities that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Lead storytelling sessions, teach songs, and plan outings to local points of interest.
  • Assist in record-keeping and maintain accurate documentation of children's progress.
  • Encourage creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Guide children in developing good eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and address any concerns.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and community service providers.
Requirements
  • College diploma or equivalent in Early Childhood Education.
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a childcare setting.
  • Emergency child care first aid and CPR certification.
  • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • CPR Certificate.
Working Conditions

This is a temporary position with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. Bending, crouching, and kneeling are also required.
