Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Public Affairs to lead our communications and marketing efforts. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications and marketing initiatives that promote our museum's exhibits, educational programs, and overall brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication and marketing strategies that align with our museum's mission and goals.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a diverse team of professionals, ensuring collaboration and an inclusive work environment.
- Manage the public affairs department's budget, ensuring effective and efficient resource allocation.
- Direct the creation of high-quality content across various platforms, ensuring consistency with our brand and strategic plan.
- Lead earned and paid media efforts to build national reach and connect with communities.
- Provide strategic communications advice on government, stakeholder, and community relations.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners to promote our museum's activities and enhance its visibility and impact.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, coupled with at least seven years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in issues management, media relations, strategic communications planning, and social media management.
- Proven ability to develop and implement successful marketing campaigns and work effectively with marketing agencies.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey a clear vision and build relationships at all levels.
- Bilingual proficiency in both official languages is preferred, especially for engaging with francophone media and stakeholders.
- Strong alignment with human rights principles, including respect, equity, inclusion, and dignity for all.
