Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Operations Manager to join our team at Canadian Pacific Railway. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all intermodal equipment maintenance and repair activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Auditing: Perform regular safety audits using E-test to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintenance Scheduling: Schedule lift equipment and hostler maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Equipment Inspections: Schedule and monitor CVI inspections on the intermodal chassis fleet to ensure compliance with manufacturer's recommendations and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Schedule maintenance, repairs, and retirement of the container fleet to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance and repair activities are performed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, AAR Rules & Regulations, Federal & Provincial Laws of Canada, and the Federal Highway Act of the United States.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Monitor that PM sheets are completed and equipment is maintained according to OEM standards.
  • Pre-Trip Inspections: Monitor PPS pre-tripping in relation to requirements and escalate to ensure requirements are completed.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure that the company's environmental policies are being adhered to and that wastes are disposed of in accordance with CPR's, federal and provincial standards.
  • Contractor Management: Ensure that all contractors working on CPR's behalf have the required experience, qualifications, and licenses to perform their duties in their respective fields.
  • Damage Claims: Investigate all damage claims to chassis, generator sets, containers with a view to improving work procedures and minimizing damage to equipment.
  • Damage Recovery: Ensure that any intent to claim for damage recovery by third-party companies are handled in a timely manner.
  • Contractor Safety: Ensure that contractors perform their work within the safety guidelines set forth by CPKC.
  • Invoice Processing: Process maintenance-related invoices and audit invoices as required.
  • Asset Management: Work with Asset Management and Supply Services on asset strategies and RFP proposals.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary certificate or degree related to Mechanical, Maintenance, or Engineering is desirable.
  • Experience: Strong mechanical background is required. Journeyman certification in maintenance of road or off-road equipment is desirable. Management or supervisor experience in maintenance of equipment required, minimum of 5 years.
  • Skills: Understanding of intermodal operations or trucking logistics is desirable. Familiar with commercial vehicle inspection regulations. Familiar with standard maintenance procedures of heavy equipment. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with contractor supervisors, personnel, and all CPKC employees. Ability to maintain healthy communication relationships with various suppliers.
