About the Role:

Giant Tiger is seeking a highly skilled Merchandise Financial Planning Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Merchandise Financial Planning department, you will be responsible for developing and executing financial plans that support our short- and long-term merchandising strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute annual financial plans that optimize sales, gross margin, and inventory levels.
  • Lead a team of planners in the execution of financial strategies and provide recommendations to course correct.
  • Collaborate with Merchants, Supply Chain, Replenishment, and Store Operations partners to drive business performance.
  • Provide visibility to Senior Leadership Team on current business results, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement inventory strategies for seasonal businesses and ensure execution of markdowns and promotional plans.
  • Oversee the preparation of merchandise plans that support the annual financial plan.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Business or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the retail industry, preferably with a national retailer.
  • 3-5 years of people management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of retail Merchandise Financial Planning processes and metrics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
