Archaeological Specialist

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled Archaeologist to join our team. As an Archaeologist, you will play a vital role in preserving our rich cultural heritage. You will work on diverse archaeological projects, utilizing advanced tools and methodologies, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts and local Indigenous communities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Heritage Conservation Act across City of Kamloops departments. This will involve close liaison and collaboration with Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc, multidisciplinary consultants, and contractors throughout all phases of planning, construction, and post-construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with the Heritage Conservation Act.
- Liaise with Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc, consultants, and contractors.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts.
- Contribute to public education and heritage preservation.
- Work on diverse archaeological projects.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in archaeology or anthropology, with a specialization in archaeology. They will also have a minimum of 7 years' experience in archaeological resource management, familiarity with Provincial Heritage Conservation Act, rules and regulations, and a working knowledge of related municipal, provincial, and federal laws, regulations, and practices.
The annual salary for this position is $112,908.90. The City offers a comprehensive benefit package, including generous vacation and an Earned Days Off program. This is an exempt Management position. For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check.
