About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc.

This is a full-time position based in Ottawa, Ontario, and will involve working across various facilities in the Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec regions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety requirements outlined by the provinces and company policy to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Inspect equipment for proper functional use and perform preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications.
  • Upgrade and Improve: Upgrade areas with new equipment and technology to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain current written or data input spreadsheets on all equipment repairs.
  • Equipment Inspection and Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and perform repair and maintenance of all plant equipment using a variety of hand tools, power tools, shop machines, hoists, etc.
  • Major Repairs: Make major repairs to crushers, changing jaw dies, bearings, bushings, crusher mantles, etc.
  • Conveyor and Hydraulic Systems: Repair conveyor belts, feeders, and hydraulic systems.
  • Collaboration and Adaptability: Proficiently work with outside contractors on special projects and have a willingness to operate individually or within the constraints of a team environment.
  • Housekeeping and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized workspace to access equipment and complete repair tasks.
  • Additional Duties: Conduct other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Experience and Training: Minimum of 5 years of experience (or formal technical training) in mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Welding Skills: 2+ years of diversified welding experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Must have knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, mechanical moving parts (chains, bearings, and rollers), and be proficient at both ARC and MIG welding.
  • Communication and Flexibility: Must be able to read and fabricate from drawings and be flexible to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet production requirements as needed.
