Nuclear Project Director Position in Ontario

At AtkinsRéalis, a leading nuclear engineering group, we are seeking an experienced Nuclear Project Director to lead our Cernavoda 3/4 project team. This is a unique opportunity to work on a major project and make a significant impact in the industry.
About the Role:
This role involves overseeing the provision of contract deliverables, strategically planning and executing a program to complete preliminary engineering for the Nuclear Island. The successful candidate will be responsible for contract development, leading negotiations, including scope & change control, requirements management, subcontractor and supplier management, and governance for any flow-down requirements from the parent contract to subs and vendors.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in project delivery and project execution methodology, including an understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, contract management, and project controls principles. They should also have strong leadership skills, with the ability to build and inspire a team to work towards common goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Scope Definition:
Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Define the project scope and deliverables in compliance with contract documents and client requirements. - Team Leadership and Coordination:
Assemble and lead a multidisciplinary project team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders. - Contract and Risk Management:
Manage all aspects of contract administration, including scope and change control, subcontractor and supplier management, and risk management. - Safety and Quality Assurance:
Ensure adherence to safety standards and quality requirements. Develop and enforce safety programs, training, and corrective action plans to maintain high performance standards. - Nuclear Safety:
Accountable for all aspects of nuclear and industrial safety, including adherence with corporate and customer safety programs, development and enforcement of necessary training and requirements, adherence to corrective action programs, and enforcement of performance standards.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience leading or supporting projects in construction, manufacturing, or engineering services.
- Experience setting up a site location is an asset.
- Understanding of nuclear supply chain and materials management principles.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build and inspire a team to work towards common goals.
