About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Produce Team Leader to oversee daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. As a leader, you will be accountable for hiring, developing, and mentoring team members, as well as ensuring exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hold team members accountable for delivering outstanding customer experiences.
  • Build a positive work environment that fosters teamwork, respect, and high morale.
  • Makes informed decisions on hiring and separations.
  • Monitor and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
  • Maintain optimal product assortment, merchandising, and inventory levels.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with department leaders and vendors.
  • Stay up-to-date on competitor activity and industry trends.
  • Set and maintain the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Create a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, respect, and high morale.
  • Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing team members accordingly.
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to sustain a high-performance team.
  • Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
  • Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market's vision and goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Possess advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
  • Hold a food safety certification or commit to obtaining one within 6 months.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, motivational, team-building, and customer relationship skills.
  • Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Product knowledge is essential.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
  • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Experience
  • At least 24 months of retail experience, including 12 months of team leadership experience.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $56,560 - $70,800, based on the title, job description, and location. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan benefits, eligibility for a store discount, paid time off, and access to other benefit programs. Eligibility for these benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable benefits plan at the date of hire.

Work Environment

This role requires standing/walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday, lifting 50 pounds, and exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures up to 90°F. A flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required. The ability to use tools and equipment, such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks, is also necessary.
