Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Fleet Engineer to join our team at WestJet. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, planning, implementing, and supporting technical changes to aircraft configuration and maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with aircraft manufacturers to select and define the configuration of new aircraft entering the WestJet fleet, ensuring regulatory and operational needs are met.
  • Review the configuration of used aircraft entering the WestJet fleet and evaluate changes required for regulatory compliance and operational needs.
  • Support new and used aircraft deliveries during production and MRO activities, ensuring all requirements are met for Transport Canada import.
  • Support the Compliance team in evaluating aircraft configurations for regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical support to the In-Service Engineering team during the creation of engineering controls and task cards.
  • Provide technical assistance to procurement during the creation of RFPs, contracts, and statements of work for major supplier contracts.
  • Continually review up-to-date OEM service data to ensure a safe, compliant, and reliable fleet.
  • Implement technical changes to the aircraft configuration and maintenance program in accordance with a standardized process.
  • Develop and issue engineering actions with supporting documents, drawings, and manual revisions.
  • Investigate problems and proposed modifications, evaluating potential merits and providing solutions.
  • Attend industry meetings and conferences to stay current on new product offerings and upcoming major aircraft configuration changes.
  • Provide support for aircraft at heavy maintenance MRO and coordinate with repair service providers.
  • Provide detailed engineering assistance to the Technical Services group, working with vendors and OEMs to drive new solutions.
  • Assist in developing revisions and corrections to Maintenance Programs and affected manuals.
Requirements
  • Must possess an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license (M or E license) or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience working in an airline maintenance environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in avionics, software, and/or interiors is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Boeing 737 NG, 737 Max, and 787 aircraft is considered an asset.
  • Ability to understand and apply a wide variety of service, maintenance, engineering, and repair documentation.
  • Experience with technical change implementation to aircraft configuration.
  • Ability to create engineering controls and task cards within Computerized Maintenance Tracking System (CMTS).
  • Experience with TRAX/eMRO is considered an asset.
  • Microsoft O365 application fluency (Outlook, Teams, Planner, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • High degree of interpersonal and communication proficiency, including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with multiple cross-departmental stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage projects to successful completion on tight timeframes.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
