Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Woodfibre Management Ltd. This is a key role that requires strong leadership and technical expertise to manage the maintenance execution process for our liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construction Phase:
    • Represent the Maintenance team during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning, ensuring a smooth transition to operational readiness.
    • Serve as a liaison between Project and Asset disciplines, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
    • Ensure a safe and efficient start-up process for the facility.
  • Operate Phase:
    • Lead a team of maintenance technicians, providing coaching and direction to achieve personal development targets and maintain high performance standards.
    • Develop and implement detailed discipline goals plans, individual development plans, and rotation plans to ensure effective knowledge transfer and skill development.
    • Manage the business to deliver excellent results in terms of cost, reliability, and production, ensuring compliance with maintenance execution processes and systems.
    • Ensure clear understanding of direct report accountabilities and direct reports have clear understanding of their role/expectations, including assigning work priorities.
    • Develop and implement cross-functional initiatives, participating in the Maintenance Leadership Team to drive business improvement.
    • Ensure safe and effective work execution, interfacing with work teams to reinforce safe working habits, behaviors, and job site hazard identification.
    • Responsible for own discipline maintenance budget, including developing annual budget, weekly and monthly reviews of spent against budget, and developing forecast.
    • Coordinate with Operations and Engineering teams to adjust and minimize future costs, maintain budget, manage unexpected production incidents, and minimize maintenance budget impact.
    • Interfaces with other departments to manage incidents and activities, ensuring a functional call-out and off-shift coverage system exists to meet business requirements.
    Requirements
    • Engineer, Technologist, or Red Seal Journeyperson within the discipline with minimum 10 years maintenance experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, with preference for LNG Industry.
    • Skills in coordinating multi-craft maintenance or projects.
    • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems like SAP-MM is a strong requirement, while experience in planning and scheduling would be a plus.
    • Preferably the candidate will have previous exposure to SAP implementations from scratch for new facilities.
    • Experience developing and managing budgets.
    • Knowledge of Maintenance Business Processes and Systems (Maintenance Execution; TA; Shutdowns, etc.).
    • Hands-on working knowledge in most of the following areas relating to Instrument & Controls equipment and good working knowledge in the remaining:
      • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Controls Systems (DCS), and Emergency Shutdown systems.
      • High Integrity Pressure Protection system (HIPPS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Fire & Gas (F&G), and compressor Anti-Surge protection.
      • Centrifugal compressors.
      • Electrical motors.
      • Machinery in cryogenic application.
      • Machinery Monitoring systems.
      • Familiar with Instrumentation applicable codes such as ISA, API, ISO, and NFPA.
      • Various field devices such as temperature, pressure, and level measurement, gas chromatographs, and gas metering systems.
      • Previous exposure to be part of investigations using Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
    • Proven leadership skills to lead teams and mentor junior staff, influencing, negotiating, and decision-making.
    • A motivated person with a mentoring and coaching approach.
    • Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
    • Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly for interacting with front-line workers.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and change priorities within tight time frames.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
    • Expertise with a variety of computer programs.
    • A valid driver's license and passport.
    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
