The Flagperson is responsible for ensuring the safety of workers, equipment operators, drivers, and the public in and around work zones. This involves controlling the flow of traffic, setting up signage, and maintaining communication with other flaggers and the Foreman. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety practices and procedures, as well as the ability to assess hazards and take corrective action.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure road safety practices are followed.
- Control the flow of traffic in and around work zones.
- Assist with set up of all signage related to the work zones.
- Maintain continuous communication with other flaggers and/or Foreman.
- Conduct hazard assessments.
- Comply with the company's Code of Ethics and principles.
The successful candidate will have a High-School Diploma or G.E.D. and a Flagger/Traffic Control Designation/Certification. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in road construction and 1-2 years of experience as a Flagger is preferred.
Working Conditions:The Flagperson will work in an outdoor setting, which may include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. The ability to repetitively lift and carry at least 30 lbs. on a regular basis is required. The use of personal protection equipment, sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is also necessary.
