Asphalt Raker Labourer

The Asphalt Raker Labourer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of road construction projects by redistributing asphalt mix correctly and preparing it for rolling.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough assessments of road conditions and job requirements to determine the most effective raking techniques.
- Utilize proficient skills and techniques to spread asphalt mix efficiently, maintaining a good pace and ensuring a smooth surface.
- Ensure proper hand raking of longitudinal seams and transverse joints to prevent segregation and ensure a high-quality finish.
- Shovel excess asphalt and sweep up debris to maintain a clean and organized worksite.
- Collaborate with the screed operator to ensure even distribution of asphalt materials over the road surface.
- Verify and set the angle and depth of the asphalt screed as required to achieve optimal results.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Maintain a safe and organized worksite, free of clutter, rubble, and garbage.
- Perform a variety of manual labour tasks, including the use of power and hand tools.
- Complete other general labour tasks, such as cleaning and preparing sites.
- Operate equipment, such as pneumatic hammers, vibrators, tampers, and skid steer as needed.
- Minimum 1-5 years of experience in road construction.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience as an Asphalt Raker.
- Understanding of asphalt raking techniques.
- Knowledge of road paving construction methods and road construction materials.
- Travel as required.
- Overtime as required.
- Use of personal protection equipment is required.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
- Must comply with all company policies.
- Must be able to work safely around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing work on the roads.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
