Inspector, Elevating Devices Specialist

We are currently seeking an Inspector for our Elevating Devices Program. This role will support the Ottawa Area, with details of the assigned location to be determined upon completion of the training program. Preference will be given to those who currently reside or are willing to relocate within the region.
Job Responsibilities- Conduct inspections of elevating devices to ensure compliance with codes, standards, safety bulletins, and the TSSA Act and Regulations.
- Provide consultative and safety management services to industry customers and the public.
- Proactively educate the public and industry on existing and emerging safety priorities.
- Resolve/reduce non-compliance to the TSSA Act, regulations, and codes.
- Conduct on-site reviews of incidents, equipment failures, and respond to public inquiries.
- Work closely with colleagues to enhance team performance and identify customer service delivery improvements.
- Provide feedback and constructive input regarding investigations.
- Write reports, directions, and general correspondence.
- Document and analyze patterns of non-compliance identified through inspections.
- Identify and develop solutions for recurring inspection issues.
- Successful completion of a mechanical, electrical, engineering, or millwright certification.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical, electrical, millwright, or engineering backgrounds.
- Knowledge and application of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Knowledge of the Technical Standards & Safety Act and related elevating devices.
- Self-starter, establishes own schedules, plans, and priorities.
- A valid Ontario driver's license is required.
- Elevating Device Mechanic certificate holder or equivalent would be an asset.
- Current Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) would be an asset.
- Practical field experience in the elevating industry.
