About the Opportunity

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Director to join our Urban Transportation Solutions group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of dynamic transit projects in Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee project compliance with Aecon's Project Controls standards and applicable contract documents.
  • Establish and maintain integrated Project Controls systems, including cost and schedule baselines.
  • Lead project performance status meetings and communicate key metrics to the project team.
  • Lead a team of Project Controls staff specializing in planning, scheduling, cost control, change management, and risk management.
  • Support Project Managers in tracking project health and establishing communication plans.
  • Provide input into the continuous improvement of Aecon's Project Controls policies and guidelines.
  • Oversee analysis and reporting of project performance key metrics, including CPI, SPI, and key commodity tracking.
  • Implement and maintain Earned Value Management plans to measure project performance and identify variances.
  • Develop and implement project-specific Project Controls plans, documenting processes and procedures.
  • Lead the development and implementation of project-specific change management plans.
  • Provide commercial and technical expertise to support proposal development and contractually defined project control requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to all contract conditions regarding Project Controls requirements, project set-up, monitoring, and close-out.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with client counterparts and joint venture stakeholders.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in project-level resource planning, utilization analysis, and resource leveling.
  • Develop project-specific Risk Management Plans for incorporation into the Project Controls Plan.
  • Establish cadence for risk reviews and lead risk review meetings to identify, evaluate, and update risks.
  • Assist risk owners in establishing, implementing, and tracking mitigating actions and contingency plans.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 15+ years of construction industry experience.
  • Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating, and cost control.
  • Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.
  • Natural leader and team builder with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead project controls staff.
  • Proven strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
  • Detail-oriented and customer-focused.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of SAP and required project controls software, including Primavera, Hard Dollar, and Accubid.
