About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a highly skilled Molecular Specialist to join our dynamic Testing team. As a key member of our laboratory operations, you will play a critical role in the development, validation, and implementation of clinical molecular assays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, and analyze molecular assays and processes to ensure high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with medical partners and Testing Operations team members to lead technical molecular clinical assay and process development.
  • Participate in the development, optimization, validation, and implementation of new, improved, or existing clinical laboratory assays.

Requirements

  • Masters or Doctoral degree with specialization in an appropriate area (Genetics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Health Sciences disciplines) from a recognized academic institution.
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant experience with clinical assay design, validation, and implementation.
  • Highly proficient computer skills for the analysis of complex data, including familiarity with Excel, publicly available genome exploration tools, and databases such as NCBI resources.

Work Environment

This role will work at Canadian Blood Services' donor testing site located at 100 Parkshore Dr, Brampton ON. You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
