About Empower SimcoeSince 1953, Empower Simcoe has been dedicated to providing innovative programs and services that empower individuals and families throughout Simcoe County. Our inclusive culture fosters an environment where everyone can Be, Belong, and Thrive.
What We DoThe Empower Simcoe Foundation is a registered charity established in 1998. We directly support the activities of Empower Simcoe by raising funds for people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Additionally, we identify and respond to community needs through special projects that align with our mission.
Your Role as a Board MemberWe are seeking individuals with diverse life experiences and an interest in giving back to their communities. As a board member, you will participate in monthly meetings, development and training opportunities, and fundraising activities. You will also be expected to commit to serving for a 2-year term, with the possibility of serving up to four terms.
- Participate in monthly board meetings
- Engage in development and training opportunities to enhance your skills
- Contribute to the evaluation and advisement of our fundraising policy
- Support external community activities and events that promote Empower Simcoe's visibility and reputation
- Participate in fundraising activities and remain informed about our programs and services
- Collaborate with our CEO and board colleagues to oversee our strategic direction and provide input on fundraising efforts and revenue-generating strategies
As a board member, you will participate in annual board retreats and ongoing training sessions to ensure you have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in your role.
What You Bring to the TeamWe value individuals with diverse skillsets, experiences, and perspectives. If you have a background in fundraising, event planning, housing development, marketing, entrepreneurship, or banking, we encourage you to apply. Previous board experience is not necessary, but an appreciation for not-for-profit governance and a willingness to learn are essential.
