Tire Technician Job Description

At GFL Environmental, we are seeking a skilled Tire Technician to join our team. As a Tire Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rolling equipment by performing tire repairs, switches, and replacements, as well as conducting regular tire checks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all tire repairs, tire switches, tire replacements, and tire checks on all rolling equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of tires and track inventory.
  • Complete all tire change tags and brand tires with branch numbers.
  • Conduct daily tire checks on all rolling equipment, recording air pressure, searching for cuts, and observing the general condition of all tires.
  • Maintain a clean work area and conform to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist shop mechanics as needed and perform miscellaneous equipment cleaning.
  • Occasionally maintain attractive grounds by picking up and removing paper, trash, and other debris.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technology through technical manuals and training seminars.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings and perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and ability to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to operate necessary equipment and read and comprehend simple correspondence and instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and reports and work in usually loud conditions.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  • Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Frequently work in outside weather conditions and occasionally work in high precarious places.
