Tire Technician Job Description

As a Tire Technician at GFL Environmental, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rolling equipment. Your primary duties will include:

  • Performing tire repairs, switches, and replacements on all rolling equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate records of tires and tracking inventory.
  • Completing daily tire checks on all rolling equipment, including air pressure checks, visual inspections, and ensuring all wheel lugs are tight and wheels are straight.
  • Assisting shop mechanics as needed and performing miscellaneous equipment cleaning tasks.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Ability to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
  • Visual Requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Frequently work in outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally work in high precarious places.
