Reef Net Revitalization Project Coordinator

**Job Summary**

The Tsawout First Nation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Reef Net Revitalization Project Officer. As a key member of the Tsawout Fisheries Department, this position will play a crucial role in coordinating and implementing the various activities related to the revitalization of reef net harvesting.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Develop and implement a Project Charter and work plan for each fiscal year;
  • Engage with members, First Nations, and stakeholders through internal and external outreach activities;
  • Participate in educational workshops and training sessions as required;
  • Ensure a log is kept of all outreach engagements;
  • Assist with field work activities, including equipment maintenance and storage;
  • Learn traditional fishing techniques and cultural practices from Indigenous Elders and community members;
  • Participate in fisheries-related field trips and outdoor activities to gain practical experience and knowledge.

**Requirements**

  • Preference will be given to Tsawout members and secondarily other W̱SÁNEĆ candidates;
  • Previous Reef Net fishery experience is an asset;
  • Minimum Secondary School certification is required;
  • Experience with keyboarding, word processing, and excel spreadsheets is an asset;
  • A Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check is required as a condition of employment.

**Working Conditions**

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to work early morning, late night hours, and weekends as needed.
