Lead Mechanical Engineer for Naval Ship Projects

Belcan Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Dartmouth, NS. This role involves leading projects and managing a team of engineers in the delivery of detail design activities across programmes within the Belcan Marine systems.
About the Role:This position has a strong focus on engineering delivery and quality, providing technical governance and support. The successful candidate will lead the project and the team, communicate with the customer, and ensure timely and budget-friendly delivery.
Responsibilities:- Customer Interaction: Interact with customer technical focal points as required.
- Project Delivery: Ensure On-Time, On-Budget delivery in accordance with customer quotations.
- Profitability: Maximise billability of the team, avoid overspend and write-offs, identify & implement cost savings (internal & customer), manage change.
- Resource Management: Responsible for technical validity of customer deliverables, by either approving deliverables or utilising suitably qualified and experienced personnel. Agree and define deliverables for customer quotations, supervise team members, plan day-to-day activities, identify training requirements for team members, provide inputs to and support PDRs.
- Offshore Opportunities: Identify opportunities within their team's activities that align with the functional off-shoring.
- Degree-qualified in a relevant field, with experience in marine engineering and/or a defence-related industry.
- Proven track record of managing teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate the value of the engineering lifecycle and the relationship to the Lifecycle Management Process.
- Familiarity with regulatory and statutory requirements of the product, as well as an appreciation of the need for sustainable environmental practices.
