Job Description

This role plays a critical part in the coordination of patient flow and related resource utilization within the WRHA Corporate environment. The Operational Patient Flow Specialist functions as the primary contact point for system flow management and performance at the site level.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing, planning, and implementing regional and provincial initiatives that improve patient flow.
  • Develop expertise in patient flow software and bed management applications to optimize resource allocation.
  • Maintain a regional approach to education and training on the use of patient flow software and bed management applications.
  • Implement a quality monitoring program to ensure the effective use of patient flow software and bed management applications.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of projects and initiatives aimed at achieving operational patient flow performance targets.
  • Maintain access to beds within sites according to regional developed processes.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of recent experience working in an acute medical, surgical, or critical care/emergency environment.
  • Experience in an operational role with a focus on transition planning and practices is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using computerized applications, including Microsoft products and patient flow software.
Education

The incumbent should hold a Baccalaureate degree in a relevant healthcare discipline and preferably a Master's degree. Education in Lean Six Sigma or equivalent is also desirable.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Current registration with a professional association/licensing body is required.

  • Ability to work in various locations across Winnipeg and arrange own transportation.
