Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Kensington Health Centre. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting ophthalmologists in clinics, performing diagnostic tests, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist ophthalmologists in clinics by accurately testing patients' vision, applying eye drops, and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Operate ophthalmology diagnostic tools, including biometry, IOL Master, refraction, and Goldmann tonometry.
  • Perform visual field testing, OCT, photography, ultrasound, topography, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide instructions to patients on eye care and ensure accurate medical records management.
  • Establish and maintain good relations with patients, families, and the Kensington Health community.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to promote patient-centred care.
  • Continuously investigate and suggest new methods for delivering services to patients.
Requirements
  • Minimum three years of experience in an ophthalmology setting.
  • Experience with ophthalmology diagnostic tools and electronic patient scheduling software.
  • Medical background and certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) are preferred.
