Job Title: Construction Project Superintendent

Whelan Construction is seeking a highly skilled Construction Project Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors' activities to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Plan and organize daily operations, including scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones, monitoring progress and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for quality control, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schemas, and drawings, identifying potential issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Plan and manage budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
  • Direct the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
  • Oversee the analysis of data and information, providing insights and recommendations to inform project decisions.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation, communicating project progress and results to stakeholders.
  • Resolve conflict situations, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Train staff and workers in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies, ensuring a culture of excellence and compliance.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as construction management, engineering, or business.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of success.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and MS Project, with experience in construction software and technology.
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards, codes, and regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective manner.
  • Experience in industrial, commercial, and institutional construction, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in these sectors.
