Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Superintendent to join our team at Whelan Construction.

About the Role
  • This is a permanent position, working 40 hours per week with a valid driver's license required.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating subcontractor activities, planning and organizing daily operations, and preparing and submitting construction project budget estimates.
  • They will also be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and supervising staff and/or volunteers, as well as planning and preparing construction schedules and milestones and monitoring progress.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Team Management
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of subcontractors.
  • Plan and organize daily operations to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers to achieve project goals.
Budgeting and Financial Management
  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
  • Manage budgets and financial resources to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
Scheduling and Planning
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones.
  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure projects are completed on time.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
RequirementsEducation and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as construction management or engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage budgets and financial resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
