About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cement Finisher to join our team at MCL Concrete Ltd. As a Cement Finisher, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality finish on our concrete projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and Prepare Work Sites
    • Check formwork, granular base, and steel reinforcement materials to ensure they meet our quality standards.
  • Apply and Finish Concrete
    • Direct the placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade specifications.
    • Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement to achieve a smooth finish.
    • Operate power vibrators to compact concrete and ensure it is properly set.
    • Level the top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications.
    • Use hand and power tools to impart the desired finish to concrete surfaces.
  • Maintain and Repair Concrete Structures
    • Instruct apprentices on proper techniques and safety protocols.
    • Waterproof, damp-proof, and restore surfaces to ensure durability and longevity.
    • Repair, resurface, and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures.
  • Communicate Effectively
    • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • The Cement Finisher will work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Handling heavy loads and standing for extended periods are essential aspects of this role.
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, and sound discrimination are also required.
Requirements
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Dental plan and financial benefits as per collective agreement.
  • Permanent employment with 40 hours per week.
  • English as the primary language of work.
