This role will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to our Data Insights team, driving business improvement through advanced data analytics and machine learning, and ensuring the effective use of data within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to the Data Insights team, setting the vision and strategic direction for how data analytics can drive business improvement.
  • Develop and implement data strategies and policies to ensure the effective use of data within the company.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to provide actionable insights that support decision-making across the organization.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and managing a team of data analysts and scientists, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring continuous skill development.
  • Own the evolution of CARFAX Canada's Data Governance maturity, including data accuracy, privacy, security, and compliance with regulations.
  • Work closely with our Product team and other departments and stakeholders to understand their data needs and communicate the value of data insights in addressing business challenges and opportunities.
  • Manage a variety of data-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the desired quality.
  • Ensure that the department complies with data privacy laws and ethical guidelines, and that data management practices are in line with organizational policies and standards.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends in data analytics and technology and implement innovative solutions to enhance data capabilities and drive continuous improvement in data processes and outputs.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a data leader with a successful history of leading through influence.
  • Experience implementing data governance is an asset.
  • ~5-7 years of experience in the application of advanced analytics in a data company.
  • Solid understanding of database technologies, particularly in a Microsoft Azure production environment.
  • Experience working with large volumes of data from disparate sources across complex business processes and functions.
  • Experience with Agile Development methodology is an asset.
  • Experience working with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and advanced analytical and modeling tools (R, Python, SAS, or other statistical software).
  • Master's degree in advanced data analytics is considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent program and project management skills.
