Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at BC Children's Hospital and SunnyHill Health Centre. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients and families in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose patients' health conditions, develop and implement treatment plans, and provide follow-up care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care, communicate effectively with patients and families, and support their personal responses to health conditions.
- Prescribe medications, order diagnostic investigations, and interpret results to monitor progress and plan treatment.
- Participate in research, contribute to improved patient care, and advance nursing practice, health policy development, and population health.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures related to nursing and interdisciplinary practice, and identify and respond to legal and ethical issues.
- Assign work to other nursing and healthcare personnel, provide supervision, and evaluate staff performance.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Eligibility to complete the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) through the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
- Minimum of 4 years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
- Ability to perform the full scope of Nurse Practitioner duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients and families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature, and introduce evidence-based practice into clinical areas.
