Rehabilitation Therapist Assistant

Job Summary
At Fraser Health, we are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will work under the direction of a professional nurse and in cooperation with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to provide high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans under the direction of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist, including activities of daily living, mobility, and strengthening and balancing exercises.
- Monitor patient progress through observation and reporting to the care team.
- Provide input into the planning, implementation, modification, and evaluation of treatment plans.
- Perform various tests as assigned by PT or OT, such as the Berg Balance, Timed Up and Go, and six-minute walk test.
- Record and report relevant data for interpretation by the therapist.
- Prepare and apply therapeutic treatment modalities as assigned by PT or OT.
- Provide functional skills training to patients and families in activities of daily living, mobility, and communication.
- Assist with power and manual wheelchair mobility training.
- Maintain therapy equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
