Key Responsibilities- Provide service in a dignified and respectful manner, reflecting the charism of Good Shepherd Centres and integrating anti-oppression/anti-racism frameworks.
- Ensure the clothing area at 155 Cannon Street E (Venture Centre) is stocked with suitable clothing for distribution to clients, involving sorting, sizing, and racking of donated clothing.
- Ensure food sorting at 155 Cannon Street E (Venture Centre) follows Public Health specifications in quality control, discarding expired food and ensuring Best Before dates meet Ministry standards.
- Provide direct service in the Market Place, completing intake applications using the L2F computer program, performing case management, and other duties to make food and clothing available for clients.
- Demonstrate hospitality values when receiving patrons at reception, controlling the flow of people, and registering them for appointments.
- Work effectively as a team member with other staff of Good Shepherd Centres.
- Supervise and motivate students, volunteers, and special needs groups assigned to the Venture Centre program.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained through work, including client, student, volunteer, and staff information.
- Ensure donors and donations are received in a gracious, respectful, professional manner, recording all required information to acknowledge donors.
- Maintain tidiness, cleanliness, and safe working conditions within The Venture Centre and other work areas.
- Perform other duties related to the Ministries of the Good Shepherd Centres as directed by the Program Manager and/or the Director of Good Shepherd Centre or delegate.
- Observe Good Shepherd health and safety rules and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff, and others, as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd Centre.
- 2 years related experience is preferred.
- Minimum academic qualifications: Social Service Worker Diploma from a recognized Community College or equivalent Post-Secondary Education.
- Knowledge of L2F Program is beneficial but necessary for fulfilling duties.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Availability, Flexibility, Adaptability, Hospitality, and Dignity.
- CPR/First Aid certification, MHFA, NVCI, and WHMIS training.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced and changing work environment, with strong time-management and active-listening skills.
- Creativity and flexibility in achieving desired outcomes.
- Hospitable in dealings with clients/public/volunteers/staff and other key stakeholders.
- Available and responsive to the needs of others.
- Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, computer, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Subject to the requirements of the Human Rights Code, a police clearance report is required to determine suitability for employment in a Social Service Agency.
