Human Resources Business Partner

The RoleThe HR Business Partner will play a key role in providing leadership and consultative services to ensure progressive people practices and sustainable workforce capability. This includes working collaboratively with Unions/Associations to champion and implement changes across the institution.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide interpretation, technical expertise, and consultative services to leaders, staff, and faculty regarding human resources requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Liaise with Unions and the Association to respond to issues/concerns on behalf of Management.
- Work collaboratively with all parties to improve working relationships and conditions, and achieve resolution.
- Assist with preparation/research for collective bargaining and support the Polytechnic's bargaining team.
- Counsel/advise managers to ensure documentation exists to effectively deal with issues/concerns.
- Investigate and respond to concerns/issues before they become formalized grievances/complaints.
- Attend/perform/facilitate investigations on sensitive issues such as harassment complaints or staff disputes.
- Provide HR expertise in the development of appropriate action plans to correct performance or behavior.
- Advises leaders on the progressive discipline process, including assessing whether discipline is appropriate, identifying and advising of any potential risks, and assisting in the preparation of relevant documentation.
- Partner with Leadership and the HR team to identify opportunities and challenges, and develop strategies related to process improvement, succession planning, restructuring, downsizing, budget changes, workforce planning, etc.
- Conduct research and surveys other organizations/institutions, and present recommendations based on this information to Management.
- Carry out People & Culture department research (Benchmarking, Salary Surveys, Client Surveys, etc.) to support Collective Bargaining and facilitate planning.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of an institution-wide recruitment strategy.
- Strategize with hiring leaders to determine hiring needs, characteristics of the most suitable candidate, and applicable interview process.
- Create job postings and determine the most effective job boards to advertise.
- Regret unsuccessful applicants, provide interview feedback, maintain eligibility lists, and prepare offer letter requests.
- Monitor the collection and storage of relevant competition records for providing recruitment statistics.
This accurate data is essential in ensuring the integrity of the recruitment process and maintaining relevant documentation for review.
