About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Front End Service Clerk to join our team at Calgary Co-op. As a key member of our front-end team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a safe and efficient operation, and adhering to company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service and maintain positive customer relations through the proper handling of questions, comments, requests, and complaints.
  • Handle merchandise, ensuring quality, minimizing damages, and markdowns.
  • Perform general clean-up duties, such as cleaning spills and display fixtures, to maintain a neat and organized department.
  • Ensure the sales floor is clean of cardboard and debris, including disposal of garbage.
  • Perform duties following established Occupational Health and Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
  • Ensure the proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and tools, and report repair requirements to the Customer Service Supervisor.
  • Perform all aspects of Front End Service Clerk functions, including opening and closing duties, setting up storefront, filling supplies, cleaning mats, preparing and assisting in organizing deliveries, providing wrapping carry-out service, and proper care and handling of all shopping carts, hand baskets, carry-out carts, and replacing existing stock after cleaning.
  • Other duties include hanging signs from the ceiling or on the walls and obtaining change for cashiers from customer service.
Requirements
  • Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Must be fluent in English (CLBA - Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment score of 5 or higher).
  • Previous retail or related experience is desirable.
