The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Program Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our aquatics department, you will be responsible for supporting the aquatics supervisor in recruiting, hiring, training, and coaching swim instructor staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities- Support aquatics supervisor in recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and developing a high-functioning swim instructor team.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules, and refer program participants and families to other programs as needed.
- Ensure YMCA Aquatics Standards are consistently met or exceeded, and support the supervisor in responding to service issues with possible solutions in a timely manner.
- Provide on-deck and in-water coaching and training to swim instructor staff to meet scanning, health and safety, opportunities for growth, program quality improvement, and YMCA Aquatics Standards.
- Maintain accurate records as required by YMCA Standards.
- Support the department, branch, and association in implementing and achieving goals.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a leadership capacity in an Aquatics environment.
- University degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Education, or related experience an asset.
- Certifications: Standard First Aid & CPR-C, Lifesaving National Lifeguard (NL), YMCA Swim Instructor (YSI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), or Swim Instructor - Lifesaving (SI).
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to maintain certification-level currency without expiry, as well as physical and mental readiness.

- Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard, swim instructor, and leadership instructor.

- Is a mentor and role model for staff, can develop teams through on-deck/in-water coaching.
