Job Summary:

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Manager Distribution Policy to join the Retail, Distribution and Programs branch under the Ministry of Affordability and Utilities. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading the development of expert advice and recommendations for public policy that will directly enhance the design, structure, and functioning of Alberta's electricity and natural gas distribution infrastructure and policy framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement policy initiatives to support the Ministry's goals and objectives.
  2. Provide strategic research and analysis to inform policy decisions.
  3. Represent the Ministry at events and on multi-stakeholder working groups.
  4. Lead project management and leadership initiatives to drive policy development and implementation.
  5. Facilitate issue identification and risk management for Alberta's electric and natural gas distribution infrastructure and policy framework.
  6. Lead, coach, and mentor the team by delivering effective performance management.

Requirements:

University graduation in a related field (Economics, Commerce, Law, Science, Engineering, Public Policy, Public Administration, etc.) and 4 years of progressively responsible related experience is required. Equivalency may be considered based on education and experience.

Assets:

  • Industry experience working within the Government, Agencies, Consumer Groups, Utilities, or other parts of the Energy and/or Electricity sector.
  • Legislative/policy interpretation experience.
  • Leadership and managerial experience.
  • Project management experience.
