About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Global Commercial Transactions Attorney to join our team at Equinix. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in drafting, negotiating, and managing commercial customer contracts.

Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned attorney with a strong background in commercial transactions to join a dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to internal stakeholders, including senior management, while ensuring that all commercial activities align with Equinix's business requirements and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the full deal cycle, including reporting and communicating status of contracts and managing negotiations collectively with internal stakeholders.
  2. Draft, review, and negotiate moderately complex customer contracts and channel/resale contracts to ensure principles meet Equinix's business requirements and align to internal stakeholder's approval standards.
  3. Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders while demonstrating a keen understanding of commercial considerations.
  4. Analyze customer requests for information, advising the business on how best to respond, and be able to independently draft accurate and comprehensive responses under tight deadlines.
  5. Identify customer contract aspects that do not comply with Equinix policies, processes, and procedures and escalate issues to stakeholders/approvers/appropriate party to address non-compliance.
Requirements
  • Law degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 6 to 10 years practice experience. Admitted to practice in a US state or Canadian jurisdiction where based.
  • Extensive experience in sell-side contract negotiation is critical.
  • Strong ability to identify business concerns of both parties to the transaction and then be able to creatively ascertain and draft bespoke contract provisions to solve for those concerns in a way that mitigates legal risks and accomplishes business objectives.
  • Experience working on a collaborative team with key business stakeholders in Sales, Finance, Product, and Operations to identify key business concerns with contract provisions, and project manage development of documents during the contract negotiation and drafting process.
