Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Site Services department in Eureka, Nunavut. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment used in construction and maintenance of roads, buildings, and other structures, as well as material handling work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, and graders to excavate, move, load, and grade earth, rock, and gravel.
  • Operate snow blowers and plough trucks to remove snow from roads and parking lots.
  • Operate heavy equipment to spread or compact road surface materials during road construction and maintenance.
  • Operate heavy equipment to move, load, and unload cargo.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate, and refill equipment.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Valid class driver's license.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
  • A minimum of five years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to operate with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

ATCO Frontec offers a competitive hourly wage and a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. The position will be located on site in Eureka, NU for weeks and then on site in Resolute Bay, NU for weeks, then off for weeks.
