Job Summary

ATCO Frontec is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Site Services department in Eureka, Nunavut. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of roads, buildings, and other structures, as well as material handling work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, and graders to excavate, move, load, and grade earth, rock, and gravel.
  • Operate snow blowers and plough trucks to remove snow from roads and parking lots.
  • Operate heavy equipment to spread or compact road surface materials during road construction and maintenance.
  • Operate heavy equipment to move, load, and unload cargo.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate, and refill equipment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Valid class driver's license is required.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
  • A minimum five years of experience operating heavy equipment is required.
  • Ability to operate with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Security Clearance

This position has been identified as safety-sensitive and will require completion of a pre-employment alcohol & drug test, fit-to-work medical test, and a criminal record check.
