Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our Mental Health Nursing Resource Team (MHNRT) at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. The successful candidate will provide quality nursing care to complex patient populations on our Adult, Forensic, and Child & Adolescent Mental Health units.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide quality nursing care to complex patient populations
Practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and the philosophy of patient and family centered care
Collaborate with interprofessional healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive care
Develop and implement individualized care plans
Identify and respond to abnormal or unexpected patient responses

Requirements:
Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current certification in BCLS
Recent knowledge of forensic mental health nursing in an acute care setting
Knowledge of current legislation related to the Criminal Code of Canada Part XX.1 Mental Disorder, the Mental Health Act, and the Health Care Consent Act
Ability to use the Nursing Process in conjunction with ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification or recent continuing education in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing
Knowledge of the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation or a similar recovery based model of care
