Job Title: Executive Sous Chef

West Coast Grill Sooke is seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.

Job Summary:
  • Work Term: Permanent
  • Work Language: English
  • Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other data to optimize kitchen operations
  • Develop and implement new cooking techniques and equipment training for cooking staff
  • Supervise specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers to ensure seamless kitchen operations
  • Create new recipes and menus to enhance our culinary offerings
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food production
  • Prepare and cook food on a regular basis or for special guests or functions
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies to maintain optimal inventory levels
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions to ensure exceptional service
  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities for multiple restaurants
  • Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks to ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food
  • Lead and instruct individuals to achieve high-quality food production
