Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tractor Trailer Driver to join our team at GFL Environmental. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer truck on assigned routes to collect and transport solid waste and recyclables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate Tractor-Trailer Truck: Safely operate a tractor-trailer truck on assigned routes to collect and transport solid waste and recyclables.
  • Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on the tractor-trailer truck to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Load and Unload Waste: Load and unload solid waste and recyclables from the tractor-trailer truck in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Communicate with Customers: Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure that waste collection and transportation services are provided in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain Vehicle and Equipment: Maintain the tractor-trailer truck and equipment in good working condition, including performing routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Follow Safety Procedures: Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Meet Performance Standards: Meet performance standards for waste collection and transportation services, including meeting deadlines and achieving quality targets.
Requirements:
  • Valid Class 1 Driver's License: Possess a valid Class 1 driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Commercial Driving Experience: Have at least one year of commercial driving experience.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to Meet Safety Requirements: Be able to meet the physical and mental demands of the job, including the ability to safely operate a tractor-trailer truck and lift heavy objects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Truck Operations: Have a good understanding of truck operations, including the ability to safely operate a tractor-trailer truck and perform routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Have strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and resolve problems in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Be able to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
