Dishwasher (On-Call) - Cleaning and Sanitation Specialist

Job Summary
The Dishwasher is a key member of the Culinary and Pastry Arts team at Okanagan College, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitization standards in the dishroom and kitchen areas. This includes ensuring all dishes, glassware, and cooking utensils are cleaned to food safety standards, and the dishwashing area is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, rinse, and wash dirty dishes, glassware, tableware, pots, pans, trays, and other cooking utensils using machine and manual cleaning methods as required.
- Perform general dish room duties, including restocking clean utensils and tableware, maintaining the cleanliness of the dishwashing area, and washing and folding kitchen laundry.
- Bus dishes from program kitchens and ensure classrooms are set with clean cooking utensils and other supplies as required.
- Ensure compliance with all provincial workplace safety standards.
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent and Food Safe Certificate.
- Up to and including 6 months related experience an asset.
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen an asset.
