Job Summary

Shared Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the laboratory in its role of sample triaging, accessioning, and processing of specimens. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and maintain standards put forth by Accreditation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the processing of specimens, including phlebotomies, according to departmental policy.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, as required.
  • Perform basic routine procedures according to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective specimen processing.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
Requirements
  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent, Manitoba Standards, is required.
  • Previous related experience is preferred.
  • Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification is preferred.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a laboratory environment, with regular exposure to chemicals, biological agents, and other hazardous materials. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
