Main Purpose & Function

The Health Facility Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Gathering Place Health Centre. This position is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for patrons to access personal hygiene programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff, volunteers, patrons, and community members.
  • Assist patrons with personal care and manual tasks, including laundry, showers, and haircuts.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to volunteers in the delivery of basic health-related services.
  • Monitor patron behavior and ensure that Centre rules and standards of behavior are being observed.
  • Provide encouragement and support to volunteers and patrons in need.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Deal with difficult issues and handle complaints from volunteers, staff, and patrons.
  • Assess clients for lice, scabies, and bedbugs, and provide accurate information regarding necessary procedures.
  • Administer basic first aid and maintain applicable records.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs and challenges of persons impacted by marginalization, including poverty, homelessness, and social isolation. They will possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team.

A Police Record Check is a requirement of this position, and a clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
