About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team at St. John's Hospice, a unique community hospice located on the University of British Columbia's campus.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a holistic approach to end-of-life care, providing a high level of patient-centered care to individuals and their families. As a Palliative Care Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and providing education and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Provide direct nursing interventions for management of crisis and life-threatening situations
  • Document patient information, including assessments, plan of care, and progress
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Certification in Hospice/Palliative Care
  • One year's recent, related palliative nursing care experience in an acute care facility or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
