Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance and Repair Specialist to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the satisfactory operation of institutional equipment, mechanical installations, and electrical systems.

About the Role

This is a permanent employment opportunity that requires a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, a Nova Scotia Journeyman Provincial Certificate, and at least 2 years' experience as a Journeyman in one of the following trades: Plumber, Construction, or Industrial Electrician. Consideration may be given to 5 years of experience working as a building operator with experience in plumbing, electrical, steam fitting, boilers, or construction.

Responsibilities
  1. You will apply various building and mechanical trade skills to plan, organize, and direct inspection, maintenance, and repair programs.
  2. You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, heating, and ventilation equipment.
  3. You will work closely with other teams to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A good working knowledge of current construction safety regulations and practices.
  • The ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills when supervising others.
