Dean of Business and Hospitality

Algonquin College is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of Dean of Business and Hospitality. As a key member of the College's senior leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic and administrative leadership to the School of Business and Hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic and administrative leadership to the School of Business and Hospitality, including oversight of academic programs, services, and operations.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to position the School of Business and Hospitality as a prominent school, training students to meet the evolving needs of industry.
  • Ensure that programs are appropriately integrated with community and business organizations to provide opportunities for workplace experience through placements or other vehicles.
  • Collaborate with staff and external stakeholders to ensure programs reflect the changing market and employment needs of industry.
  • Chair cross-college committees and support the senior management team in addressing academic and staff issues.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in business and other relevant field of study, PhD preferred.
  • Post-secondary credential in a program associated with the School of Business and Hospitality or Professional designation in Business.
  • Minimum of 13 years related experience in increasingly responsible roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior-level leadership and management experience, with a preference that at least half of this time has been in a post-secondary educational institution.
  • Experience managing personnel in a large, unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide academic leadership to faculty and staff, and to develop high performing teams.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Superior organizational, planning, and financial management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled at negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Proven ability to develop partnership linkages to achieve long term institutional goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success, teaching excellence, quality education, and applied research.
